David Quixote
I
have fought fantastic giants
And,
constantly in battle –
Killed
some with ease, some hardly –
But
was never yet defeated.
One
day, weary with little winning
And
noting the absence of cheering
I
turned to look at my brothers
To see if they matched my stubbornness:-
There
was no one by my side.
All
were absorbed in husbandry,
In
the warm lands
And
then I knew –
Other
men didn’t need dragons,
And
I should have to learn
To
hammer this savage sword
Into a simple sickle.
